Quarantine and the Reaction of the Prophets

If you are in COVID-19 isolation/quarantine, take this time to reflect on the following points.

It is through the isolation of the basket that Musa (peace be upon him) was saved from Pharaoh.

It is through the isolation of the cave that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) received prophethood.

It is in the isolation of the whale that Yunus (peace be upon him) was forgiven.

It is in the isolation of the cave that the Ashaab-ul Kahf (the people of the cave) were protected from oppression.

Do not fear solitude. It is in solitude that one finds Allah.

Every time you are alone, remember that Allah has dismissed the entire world, so there is only you and Him!

Just like you, we are beginning a new "normal" today. Most of us have become teachers overnight and will navigate the uncharted waters of working from home, unemployment, full-time childcare, and isolation. This will test us all, but I know we will come out of it with much more than we started with.

I choose to see this as an opportunity for our environment to heal, our hearts to soften, our resilience to thrive, and our human kindness to reach new levels.
